Attention to detail has always been our forte when planning our dream destination weddings in Crete so when we meet a wonderful new couple who are on the same page as us, it’s a match made in heaven! Stephanie & Daniel’s devotion to every last detail at their intimate family wedding in Crete was a true reflection of their love for each other and also for their families who had flown in from Austria to share in their perfect Greek island wedding. When a couple brings together the most important people in their lives on the most significant day of their lives, it has to be a truly special setting. This charming young couple chose an elegant private villa with its own olive tree garden for their dream ceremony & reception and complemented the villa’s beauty with their own thoughtful personal touches.
Arriving before their guests at their stunning wedding villa, Stephanie & Daniel were able to prepare their families’ bedrooms ready for their arrival and chose to place a sweet personalised door hanger on the door handle of each room to welcome their guests to their amazing wedding location. Once in their rooms, they found individual gift bags left for them by Stephanie & Daniel containing thoughtful treats for them to use during their stay.
The happy couple first met through work and from their very first date they just knew they were made for one another! Within months, Daniel proposed to Stefanie during a trip to the USA , in the truly romantic setting of a lakeside picnic at sunset. And so their wedding day dreams began… Sharing many of the same interests, such as fine dining, sport and travel, the couple merged their professional talents and moved from Austria to the USA to set up their own successful business. Following a sommelier course when they first met, their mutual love of good wine has led to them trying a new bottle of wine together each week and then rating it. We love it!
Stephanie & Daniel’s vision for their dream wedding in Crete was a warm celebration of their love for each other in the presence of their beloved families.
When the guest list is small there is a more relaxed feel to the celebrations & the couple went all out to make sure everyone present enjoyed the most fabulous wedding experience at their stylish white villa.
The theme was elegance in marble with soft shades of gold, grey & olive green. We just loved Stephanie & Daniel’s beautiful gold-scripted wedding stationery which included marriage vows cards & order of the day cards. We know from experience that elegant personalised stationery adds an extra personal touch to every dream wedding.
To set the mood before the ceremony Daniel gave out cigars which created a celebratory vibe for the day ahead. For her big day Stephanie had chosen beautiful white David Austin roses with olive leaf foliage for her bridal bouquet & the reception table decoration and these complemented the villa’s breathtaking natural surroundings perfectly.
The emotional ceremony took place beneath a distinctive gold heptagon wedding arch beside the villa’s pool, looking out over the olive groves. The arch’s eye-catching floral décor matched the flowers in Stephanie’s gorgeous wedding bouquet. A violin duo added an extra note of elegance to the intimate occasion. The couple had chosen to include a moving ring-warming ceremony where the wedding rings were passed along a ribbon among the guests who each in turn made a wish for the happy couple by briefly holding the rings in their hands before passing them on.
Once the rings had been blessed by everyone, they were then ready to be placed on the couple’s fingers for eternity… This meaningful ritual added an extra note of sentiment to Daniel & Stephanie’s big day by including all their loved ones in the romance of the ceremony.
A drinks reception with violin accompaniment followed the ceremony with sparkling champagne carefully chosen by wine-buffs Stephanie & Daniel themselves. A sweets table with tempting goodies such as cake pops, macarons, cube cupcakes and traditional baklava delighted the guests and the pièce de résistance was the fabulous wedding cake; a round lemon sponge with coconut filling, iced in a chic shade of grey with golden chocolate decoration & a gold name topper. We knew nothing less than the best would do for our discerning couple!
After a sumptuous al fresco reception dinner prepared by a creative private chef in the villa’s olive garden with dainty fairy lights decorating the trees, the reception party began. With twinkling sparklers the guests congratulated the new Mr. & Mrs. as they took to the dance floor for their first dance together as newly-weds. This precious moment was made all the more special because the awesome live band for the evening had specially arranged the first song to Daniel & Stephanie’s very own personal request.
Adding to the villa’s smart evening décor were four stylish outdoor fireplaces placed around the grounds to keep the guests comfortable as they enjoyed the celebrations, offering a beautifully sophisticated atmosphere to round off the perfect day.
For the morning after their exquisite villa wedding ceremony & reception, the couple had organized a fabulous brunch for their guests as an extra thank you for travelling to Crete to be part of their incredible wedding day. Served beside the villa’s shimmering pool in a luxuriously relaxed setting, it was the perfect end to an unforgettable destination wedding…
