Not every just-married couple can joyfully toast to their future life together with sparkling wine produced right there at their fabulous destination wedding venue! But then not every couple lives the dream of a drop-dead-gorgeous winery wedding!
Jeanne & Michalis fell in love at first sight with the picturesque rustic winery nestled among the hills of western Crete and knew right away it was the perfect place to host their romantic Greek island wedding.
Among fragrant natural beauty and with breath-taking mountain views, the sun-kissed winery was the setting for their timeless wedding with a striking backdrop of Cretan nature at its very finest.
The Greek-American couple travelled from their home in Athens to get married on the ‘made-for-weddings’ island of Crete and were joined by more than a hundred family & friends from near & far. (Another reason for Jeanne & Michalis choosing to hold their destination wedding at this idyllic venue…the winery allows for an unlimited number of guests! Perfect for large as well as intimate weddings!)

We loved that Jeanne was such a forward-thinking bride and we were on the same page with so many ideas for the couple’s unique wedding decor. For her distinctive bridal bouquet and also for her bridesmaids’ pretty posies Jeanne creatively chose beautifully colour-coordinated dried flowers which blended perfectly with the winery’s rustic aesthetic. This stylish choice for wedding flowers has since become super popular with many of our other on-trend brides and dried flowers now feature in the set up at all kinds of inspirational destination weddings!
The moving ceremony began with Jeanne’s mum walking her precious daughter down the alfresco aisle which had been strewn with delicate white rose petals by one of the pretty bridesmaids.
In keeping with the vineyard theme, authentic wooden wine barrels were an artistic addition to the ceremony decor, perfectly placed beside where Jeanne & Michalis stood to take their personally written vows, among the leafy greenery of the winery’s grounds.
The ceremony was performed by a number of much-loved family & friends, adding an extra special touch of love & emotion to the big day.

Jeanne & Michalis chose an amazing buffet of Cretan specialities for their wedding feast, including mouth-watering antikristo lamb, cooked in the time-honoured Cretan way! And wine barrels were again the perfect vineyard wedding decor items when used for the sumptuous dessert table. The elegant glass jars & cute cake stands (one was actually an authentic log-slice stand!) added a charming dash of flair.
Destination weddings always send out supercool party vibes and Jeanne & Michalis’ awesome reception was up there with the best! Due to the winery’s private location, the reception celebrations were able to continue until the early hours and everyone present truly had a blast! A rockin’ DJ & a live Cretan band set a brilliant party atmosphere which was pumped up a notch with the ultimate Greek wedding tradition… the smashing of plates! Symbolising a new beginning, what a great way to celebrate Jeanne & Michalis’ new life as Mr & Mrs!
Shout-out to winery weddings!
