Jamie & Alex travelled all the way from the USA to get married on the sun-kissed island of Crete and they chose a truly outstanding venue which complements the island’s spectacular natural beauty perfectly. The idyllic rustic private estate with its breath-taking sweeping sea views & rolling vineyards was just the right setting for their fairy-tale Greek Orthodox destination wedding. Alex lovingly converted to his bride-to-be’s Orthodox faith as a sign of his true devotion to her. Their guests who joined them from all over the world were spellbound by the estate’s picturesque charm!
Jamie & Alex wanted the overall feel of their dream wedding to be elegant & romantic and the winning combination of dedicated planning & fine attention to detail meant it certainly was a day overflowing with beauty & love!
Pre-wedding, we arranged a super-successful bachelorette party for Jamie & her besties to get the wedding celebrations off to a perfect start: a fab pool party at a super-cool beach club with its own private beach & gem-blue freshwater pool! Jamie & her crew enjoyed long drinks & refreshing cocktails in a seaside environment on a glorious sunshiney day! No wonder so many couples put a beach club pool party at the top of their list for the ultimate bachelor & bachelorette party event!
When the big day arrived, with five gorgeous bridesmaids and five handsome groomsmen by their side, Jamie & Alex took their precious vows outside the rustic estate’s photogenic wedding chapel. The chapel’s soft pink colour created an idyllic backdrop for the romantic ceremony & promised wedding photos straight out of a fairytale! Complementing a stunning blue & white wedding theme and their own carefully chosen bridal bouquet & groom’s buttonhole, gorgeous flowers & greenery featured strongly throughout the couple’s wedding day decor. From the sumptuous flower decoration around the church door and the eye-catching foliage on the ceremony chairs to the lush arrangement on the ‘Welcome’ sign and the delicate displays on the high cocktail tables for the drinks reception, it was flower-heaven!
After the ceremony, Jamie & Alex gave their guests a delightful surprise when they joined the reception party with Jamie riding an adorable donkey (a resident of the estate!) in traditional Greek wedding style, and Alex walking by her side. What a sweet photo moment!
The olive trees in the private estate’s charming square were all decorated with twinkling fairy lights which created a magical setting for Jamie & Alex’s reception dinner under the stars. A delicious menu of traditional Greek dishes was served followed by the cutting of their elegant 3-tier wedding cake which was also decorated with fresh flowers & olive leaves.
Honouring Jamie’s Greek roots, the couple thoughtfully incorporated several Greek traditions into their inspirational wedding celebrations: an authentic lyra & lute accompaniment for the bride’s entrance, personalised bottles of Cretan olive oil as unique wedding favours and a live band with brilliant Greek dancers as part of the reception party entertainment. The delighted guests were truly blown away by it all & had the time of their lives dancing the night away !
To celebrate Alex’s Italian heritage, deliciously chilled limoncello was served at the reception party and we can’t NOT mention the many fiery Cretan raki shots enjoyed by everyone during the course of the evening!
After a fun-filled night of dancing and celebrating, a late-night snack station was just the thing to bring this perfect Orthodox wedding day in Crete to a close. And what better choice of midnight snack than the ever-popular Greek street food souvlaki! Authentic…and the guests simply raved over it!
A chilled post-wedding lunch the following day was a great way for Jamie & Alex and their wonderful guests to kick back & wind down after the amazing celebrations of the night before. Relaxing among the estate’s natural rustic surroundings and embracing the fabulous views of the sea in the distance, the wedding party enjoyed an al fresco lunch of mouth-watering Greek mezes including tzatziki, stuffed vine leaves & saganaki cheese.
A destination wedding with a super-happy vibe, Jamie & Alex’s unforgettable big day was made up of a million precious moments!
